Middle of the Mitt Medals at Lansing and Kalamazoo Competitions

This year marks the inaugural year for the Middle of the Mitt High School Figure Skating Team.  The group which consists of both a B & C-Team recently traveled to Lansing and Kalamazoo to compete in the first two of three District events.  Even though the teams are the “New Kids on the Block” they certainly made a statement by earning medals at both events!

Back in December the teams headed to Lansing. where the B-team came in tied for 5th overall, scoring a bronze medal for the Moves Event. The C-Team, placed 4th overall and earned a silver medal in the Spins Event.

Then earlier this month, Middle of the Mitt traveled to Kalamazoo and showed how much they had improved since their first go round.  B-team tied for 1st at the Event, raising their District placement to 4th.  They also received silver medals for both Jumps and Moves.  C-team took 3rd at the event, remaining in 4th place in the District, earning bronze medals for both Moves and Spins.

 

On February 20th, the teams will travel to Bay City for the final District event, both hoping to earn a birth to the State Championships at the beginning of March.
