Sign Up for the Theoretical Theater Team!

MPFSC’s Theoretical Theater Team is gearing up for a new season of fun performances on the ice.  Ice Theater combines the grace of figure skating with the excitement of theater and dance. Theatrical sets, props and costumes are used along with music and choreography to tell a story. Skaters are challenged artistically and dramatically as they perform together as a group.

Last year during its debut, the team performed a fun, yet evil number from Descendants for our annual Ice Show and competed with a rocking revival of Hairspray at Michigan Showcase where they placed 2nd.

This year the team will be performing again at MPFSC’s annual ice show, but also has opportunities to take part in other exhibition performances in the area and potentially compete at the 2018 National Showcase competition which will take place in Brighton next August.

Are you interested in joining in on the fun? This opportunity is open to skaters in Pre Free Skate or higher, as well as Adult Skaters!  Lessons will take place on Saturday mornings (exact time to be determined).  Please know this is a long term commitment. Team practices will begin on Saturday mornings sometime in late September/early October and will continue on throughout the season.

Please contact the team’s director, Melanie Black, by Friday, September 15, 2017 to express your interest in joining the team. Expressing your interest is not confirming your participation, but will help to determine if there is enough interest to move forward. Details on costs will be available soon after the RSVP deadline.  You can reach Melanie her by email at or by phone at (989) 423-5877.

Basic Skills Skaters who are interested in Theater should also contact Melanie. If there is enough interest, she may look into forming a “Junior” Team!
