The Winter Session of Learn to Skate will run for 8 weeks from January 8 – February 29, 2024 and is open to both new and returning skaters ages 4 and up. Classes are held on Monday and/or Thursday nights at 6:00 pm and includes dedicated lesson time with a certified instructor and group and individual practice time and activities. This session is also extra special because it includes participation in our annual ice show on February 17th!
Full schedule/cost is as follows:
Snowplow Sam 1, 2, 3 (Ages 4 – 5)
The Snowplow Sam levels are introductory classes divided into three progressive levels allowing our littlest skaters to build confidence while learning the basic skills of skating. These classes are designed to help children 5 and younger develop agility, balance, coordination and speed.
Mondays: (8 weeks)

Thursdays: (8 weeks)
Dates: January 11, 18, 25; February 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Please note that Snowplow Sam 1 — the Beginner Class for Ages 4 & 5 is FULL on both nights for this session. There is still room for returning skaters in Snowplow Sam 2 & 3.

Basic 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 (Ages 6 and up)
These “Basic Skills” levels teach the fundamentals of ice skating and provide the best foundation for figure skating, hockey, speed skating and recreational. Six progressive levels introduce forward and backward skating, stops, edges, crossovers, and turns. Theses classes are designed to help skaters build confidence, agility, balance, coordination and speed.

Important Notes for this session:

The Winter Session will include participation in our annual ice show on February 17, 2024. Skaters in this session will not only be learning the skills at their level, they will also be learning how to put them together in a group performance piece to be showcased at the ice show. More details on the event will be available soon!
- All skaters enrolled in this session will pay a $10.00 ice show fee which will be used to help with costs for our Learn to Skate participants in the show.
- Skaters not previously enrolled for the 23-24 season will need to sign up/renew their annual Learn to Skate membership ($20). This fee will be added to your registration costs for the session.
- Dedicated adult classes are not guaranteed for this session due to coaching constraints. If needed skaters may be placed in the equivalent Basic Skills class.
- If space allows, pro-rated registration may be available for those who sign up after the first week of classes. Please email us at mtpleasantfsc@gmail.com to inquire on availability.
- Helmets are required for skaters ages 5 and under, and are encouraged for all new skaters. (A bicycle helmet is acceptable).
- Rental skates are available if needed. Cost will be $2.00 per lesson and paid weekly when you come for class.
- Single Bladed skates are required, either figure or hockey. No double bladed skates will be allowed.
