Fall 1 2024  — Registration Closed

Our Fall 1 Session of Learn to Skate will run from September 9 – October 17, 2024 (6 weeks). Sessions are held on Monday or Thursday evenings. Available to Skaters ages 4 and up. Full schedule/cost is as follows:

Mondays:
Dates: September 9, 16, 23, 30; October 7, 14

Snowplow Sam 1 – 3 (Ages 4 – 5)
25 minute group lesson & activity time.

Basic Skills 1 – 6 (Ages 6 & up)

  • Skaters may sign up for one night or both nights. A discount is available for skater’s registering for both nights. — See registration form for details.
  • All skaters enrolled in this session will need to sign up/renew their annual Learn to Skate membership ($20). This fee will be added to your registration costs for the session.
  • Class space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
  • Registration will be online only. No in person registration will be available.
  • Rental skates are available from the rink if needed.  A rental fee of $2.00 will be paid each week at the skate rental window when you pick up skates for lessons.
  • If a child is skating (or taking lessons) for the first time, the student should register for Snowplow Sam 1 or Basic 1. Students are evaluated at the first class session to gauge their skill/ability level, and are placed in another class if their skill is applicable.

  • Rental skates are available from the rink if needed.  A rental fee of $2.00 will be paid each week at the skate rental window when you pick up skates for lessons.
  • If a child is skating (or taking lessons) for the first time, the student should register for Snowplow Sam 1 or Basic 1. Students are evaluated at the first class session to gauge their skill/ability level, and are placed in another class if their skill is applicable.
  • The Winter Session includes participation in our annual ice show on February 22, 2025!  Skaters in this session will not only be learning the skills at their level, they will also be learning how to put them together in a group performance piece to be showcased at the ice show. More details on the event will be available soon!
  • All skaters enrolled in this session will pay a $10.00 ice show fee which will be used to help with costs for the show.

Spring 2025

Our Spring 2025 Session of Learn to Skate will run from March 3 – April 24, 2025 (7 weeks).   Full schedule/cost is as follows:

Additional Fees:

  • Annual Learn to Skate Membership Fee: Required
    • Cost: $20 annually (Membership year runs July 1-June 30)
    • This is an additional fee that will be charged once per year and is added on to the registration cost for the student’s first skating session of the season.
    • Covers the cost of a US Figure Skating Learn to Skate USA membership.
    • Skaters will receive a membership card, a copy of Learn to Skate USA: The Magazine, a Skater’s Record Book, a Parents Handbook and a welcome letter by mail once the registration has been processed by USFS.
  • Skate Rental:
    • Rental skates are available from the rink if needed.  A rental fee of $2.00 will be paid each week as you pick up your skates for lessons.

Please note all class fees must be paid by the first night of class.  Fees can be paid by cash, check (payable to MPFSC), or credit/debit cards. Payments may be made in person on the first night of class or online with registration.


Make up Class Policy:

Students may have the opportunity to make-up missed Learn to Skate USA classes by attending the same level class on another day.  Make-up classes can only occur within the current class session and only when arranged in advance with the Learn to Skate Director. Please note there is no chance for a makeup classs if you are signing up for both days.

Refund Policy: 

The MPFSC Board of Directors has deemed the Learn to Skate USA Refund policy is as follows:

“No refunds will be given after the second night of class for the skater. Amount refunded will be prorated based on what remains of session, Learn to Skate USA membership fee will not be refunded.”
